Monocle teamed up with CDG to develop this curated assortment, each drawing inspiration from experiences and memories from travels throughout the varied cities and regions of Japan.

SCENT ONE HINOKI: The inspiration for this fragrance comes from a perfectly still, slightly chilly spring morning spent soaking in a tub at the Tawaraya in Kyoto. It pulls together our memory of the mosses and trees outdoors and sharp notes of the boxy, hinoki tub. Cypress, Terebenthine, Campher, Cedar, Thyme, Pine, Georgywood, Encens, Treemoss, Vetiver.

SCENT TWO LAUREL: We wanted to capture the same smell and sensation enjoyed while staying with friends in Batroun, Lebanon. It’s warm, inviting and at times a little sharp – just like the country. Yellow Lemon, Thyme, Grey Pepper, Cinnamon Leaves, Galbanum, Green Laurel, Violet, Patchouli, Oak, Cedar.

SCENT THREE SUGI: Sugi – also known as Japanese cedar – is popular as an ornamental plant in Japan and has a delicate, clean and energizing fragrance. It’s a refreshing unisex scent, beginning with top notes of Mediterranean cypress and pepper from Madagascar, followed by iris from Florence and cedar from Virginia and finished with pine and Haitian vetiver. SCENT FOUR YOYOGI: The appealing unisex product takes its woody lead from cypress, freshly mown grass and wormwood, and was designed to evoke the sensation of an early-morning run around the park of the same name in Tokyo. The energizing fragrance was perfected in the laboratory of Switzerland’s Givaudan.
