Moroccan Flat Weave Natural & Orange Wool Rug L1
Moroccan Flat Weave Natural & Orange Wool Rug L1
We're not certain of the precise origin of this rug, but its style is derivative of the flat-weave Kilim style hand-woven by Berber women of Morocco's Middle Atlas Mountains. The striations of rich browns, tans and creams are intricate and complex, creating an ombre effect. We love the variance and irregularity of stripes and bright pops of orange stripes with raised/tufted texture. Definitely the work of a skilled master weaver. This rug is thought to be one-half of what was a longer piece that, when folded and stitched, could double as a grain sack carried on the back of a pack animal by the nomadic Berbers.
Excellent condition. However, as with most antique and vintage items, slight imperfections are inherent and wear is consistent with age.
Dimensions: 5'11" x 5'8", not including fringe.
