This is a lovely example of the skill and primitive style of rug woven by the Berber tribe of Morocco. Woven by female weavers in often modest households, these rugs are a method of incorporating discarded scraps of cotton, nylon and wool, and very frequently, retired clothing.

This rug features vibrant concentric diamonds of blue, red and orate that float on a striking background of varying shades of red and coral. The effect is sophisticated and complex: a painterly woven ombre, perhaps depicting the sky's colors at sunset behind mountain peaks.

Good condition. However, as with most antique and vintage items, slight imperfections are inherent and wear is consistent with age.
