Moroccan Cerulean & Red Azilal Grid Rug L11
Moroccan Cerulean & Red Azilal Grid Rug L11
This is a beautiful example of the skill and primitive style of rug woven in the Atlas Mountains of the Azilal region of Morocco. Woven almost exclusively by female peasant weavers, these rugs are methods of storytelling, with both abstract and pictographic tribal signs of their ancestors to express motherhood, childbirth, and daily rural life. This rug is both playful and sophisticated with a grid of tribal motifs, with intricate banding along the edges. Red and cerulean pair with teal and chocolate against a creamy background. The colors and geometry make this a great choice for an office or kid's room. A unique piece with lots of character and thought to be quite old as well.
Very good condition. However, as with most antique and vintage items, slight imperfections are inherent and wear is consistent with age.
Dimensions: 7'10" x 4'4", not including fringe.
